Meet Walker- a young Treeing Walker Coonhound- he is such a delight- very easy going, loves to play and loves to walk.   He was rescued from the West Side Kill Shelter- they said he had food aggressions- I just feed him by himself and he is fine- He is so affectionate and would make a perfect family pet.

Bernie needs a forever family

by Jamie on April 25, 2009

I am a very handsome Basset / Beagle mix. I am an intelligent fellow, I get along with most dogs. I like to go for walks and would probably do very well in a home with older kids or just adults. I also like to play ball!! I can be a little shy at first, but once I warm up to you I love to sit and watch TV with you – especially if you have popcorn to share!! Please complete an adoption interest form and email it to  .hmmessage P { margin:0px; padding:0px } body.hmmessage { font-size: 10pt; font-family:Verdana } sltepe@hotmail.com if you are interested in meeting Bernie.ck_bernie

New Foster Dog-Reggie

by Jamie on April 3, 2009

Take a look at this gorgeous boy- He is all hound and sweet as he can be!! He was found wondering around the Arcadia District in Phoenix.  After efforts to Reggie the Bloodhoundlocate his family, he was relinquished to the rescue and he is doing great.  He gets along great with all his foster friends.  He is a Black/Tan Bloodhound, with droopy brown eyes, long ears and plenty of wrinkles.  He is 2-4 years old and weighs about 87lbs.

Reggie will be looking for his forever home.  He is up to date on all his shots and is neutered.

Reggie the Bloodhound is looking for a loving home

by Jamie on April 1, 2009

This beautiful young male Bloodhound was found in the Arcadia area on Tuesday, March 24th at 56th Street & Indian School.
He was not found on the course but it was close enough that someone here may know his owners. He is a very nice dog and unfortunately has no collar and no micro-chip.  If would like more information please email me.

Why I am a Foster Mom

by Jamie on March 29, 2009

“I Am An Animal Rescuer.”

My job is to assist God’s creatures
I was born with the need to fulfill their needs
I take in new family members without plan, thought or selection
I have bought dog food with my last dime
I have patted a mangy head with a bare hand
I have hugged someone vicious and afraid
I have fallen in love a thousand times
And I have cried into the fur of a lifeless body
I have animal friends and friends who have animal friends
I don’t often use the word “pet”
I notice those lost at the road side
And my heart aches
I will hand raise a field mouse
And make friends with a vulture
I know of no creature unworthy of my time
I want to live forever if there aren’t animals in Heaven
But I believe there are.
Why would God make something so perfect and leave it behind?
We may be master of the animals,
But the animals have mastered themselves
Something people still haven’t learned
War and abuse make me hurt for the world
But a rescue that makes the news gives me hope for humankind
We are a quiet but determined army
And making a difference every day
There is nothing more necessary than warming an orphan
Nothing more rewarding than saving a life
No higher recognition than watching them thrive
There is no greater joy than seeing a baby play
When only days ago, was too weak to eat
I Am An Animal Rescuer
My work is never done
My home is never quiet
My wallet is always empty
But my heart is always full
In the game of life, I have already won.
